PerfoLab

BVT specialists have created software aimed at maximizing the efficiency of secondary drilling by means of shaped charge perforation.

Advantages and peculiarities of using PerfoLab

The application of software in the area of service technologies in the oil and gas industry is steadily on the rise. New services appear, designed to increase the production process efficiency, and reduce financial and time expenditures. PerfoLab software package belongs to the most advanced software for blast and perforation operations.

Perforation is one of the most important stages of well development, so the prediction of its results, and the choice of the most optimal equipment for each specific task multiply the efficiency of well intervention and the level of oil and gas recovery.

BVT provides its customers with multifunctional software, which helps to choose the best engineering solution for blast and perforation operations at oil and gas condensate fields. The software users can make precise calculation of several options of application of perforation systems (including the oriented perforators) and shaped charges based on the comparison of the performance characteristics, well design and reservoir parameters.

The following inputs are taken into account:

  • Entry hole diameters in the casing string;
  • Skin factor (one of the critical characteristics of the reservoir);
  • Penetration depth;
  • Reservoir productivity parameters;
  • Reservoir pressure;
  • Types of perforating systems and shaped charges;
  • Relative position of the perforator and the casing string (are the perforators equipped with centalizers, are the elements on line);
  • Borehole fluid type and characteristics;
  • Typical size of the casing string, wall thickness, strength group;
  • Hardness and density of the cement sheath;
  • Hardness, density and reservoir features of the formation.

The mathematical model for calculating the entry hole diameters and perforation depths is developed by the BVT research department. The method is based on the fundamental principles of physics (the energy conservation principle, the law of conservation of momentum), and the empirical data obtained from the results of testing shaped charges and perforating systems.

PerfoLab software can work in stand-alone mode, when the user inputs the data, as well as in the mode of processing the data on well design and formation parameters obtained from the BasPRO database. The software returns calculation results promptly, and excludes the possibility of a human error. Time, resources, labor costs are saved, work productivity increases significantly.
