Sequence of Operations for Plug & Perf Technology during Hydraulic Fracturing (MSHF)

Establish hydraulic communication between the formation and the wellbore for the first fracturing stage by:

  • using a hydraulic initiating sleeve (sleeve with rupture discs) as part of the completion assembly, or;
  • drilling out (or perforating) the landing nipple with the use of coiled tubing (CT).

2. Perform the hydraulic fracturing for the first (or current) stage according to the fracturing program.

3.Run the perforation string on a cable, consisting of a packer plug, setting tool, perforation system, and auxiliary equipment, to the design depth:

  • in the vertical section — by the weight of the string;
  • in the deviated and horizontal sections — by pumping the assembly through fluid injection into the well using a pump according to the planned descent rate and pump flow schedule.

4. Set the packer plug at the design depth by an electric signal.

5. Move the assembly to the planned perforation interval. Fire the charges by electric signal.

6. Pull the perforation assembly back to the surface.

7. Pump a dissolvable ball to set in the plug, isolating the interval below the plug.

8. Repeat steps 2–7 for the required number of fracturing stages.
