- Difficult, but achievable
BVT’s management took part in a large-scale, industry-significant Forum – Conference of PJSC Belorusneft “Difficult but recoverable oil reserves: from assessment to development”, held on May 21-23, 2025 in Minsk and bringing together leading oil and gas companies and relevant departments of Belarus and invited enterprises of the Russian Federation – leaders of Russian oil production and oilfield services.
The event brought together more than 150 specialists to share their production experience in the development of hard-to-reach and unconventional hydrocarbon resources.
The conference became a platform for discussing modern technologies and innovative solutions aimed at improving the efficiency of TRIZ production, among which, of course, the first place is occupied by Plug&Perf technology, the use of which for the first time in the Republic in 2019 became, according to the leadership of Belorusneft, “a revolution in the oil and gas industry of the post-Soviet space.”
According to Alexander Lyakhov, General Director of the Belorusneft Production Association, “if 1,938 million tons of oil were produced in Belarus for the first time in 2024, then this year “we are going to produce 2 million 5 thousand tons,” which is solely related to the development of hard-to-recover reserves and the use of Plug&Perf technology.

On the final day of the Forum, participants were shown work on the “ZipperFrac” technology (simultaneous hydraulic fracturing in two horizontal boreholes), which, combined with Plug&Perf, allows them to increase the area and number of cracks in the rock, which means that an unconventional reservoir can be successfully developed. The Plug&Perf work was carried out by a perforated layout of BVT JSC with an Address Initiation System using new-generation electronic address keys.
The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Belarus, Sergey Maslyak, speaking at the conference, noted that “it is here, in the development of hard-to-recover reserves, lies a huge potential that can ensure energy stability for decades to come. “The Belarusian-Russian partnership in the context of TrIZ has a lot to develop,” said Igor Shpurov, head of the State Commission on Mineral Reserves.
